From 17 May 2016, KLM will operate its own services from Inverness, off­ering access to Amsterdam and even more opportunities to reach the world:

Pre-Order meals on Birtish Airways Midhaul Flights

Customers flying mid haul in British Airways premium cabins can now pre-order their main in-flight meal up to 24 hours before they fly from London Heathrow. The new service, already enjoyed by those travelling long haul, allows customers to select their main meal via the Manage my Booking page at within 30 days of their flight’s departure, with starters and dessert choices continuing to be taken on board. Those who choose not to take advantage of the service can continue to choose their preferences on board as usual.

To make arrivals easier British Airways announced new e-passport gates at Terminal 5.

There are 15 e-passport gates currently opened at London Heathrow Terminal 5, which allows quicker process for customers to get through the UK border control. Travellers can simply scan their e-passport at the barrier, during which the system will run face recognition check. Once the system finds them eligible to enter, gates will automatically open, letting travellers in. The only requirements are for travellers to be over 18 and carrying an e-passport that shows the ‘chip’ logo on the front, which was issued by European Economic Area or Switzerland.

Additional flights and new services to South Africa from Qatar Airways

Good news for passengers travelling to South Africa, as Qatar Airways sets out to launch a new service to Durban and increase frequencies on Johannesburg and Cape Town routes.

Starting from 01 October 2015 passengers will be able to take advantage of a daily service between Doha and Cape Town as the airline increases the current five times weekly service.

As for the new service between Doha and Durban, flights will commence on 17 December 2015 and will operate four times a week flying via Johannesburg. On the same day the airline will also be increasing frequencies between Doha and Cape Town to double daily.

JTA appoints Diane Court as Head of Business Development (All Markets)

JTA are delighted to announce the appointment of Diane Court as Head of Business Development. The appointment will contribute to the further strengthening of JTA’s management team and support the continued development and growth of the company seen over the last five years.

BA announces day of week changes for summer 2015

As the summer 2015 season commences on 29 March 2015, British Airways will be making day of the week changes to several Caribbean services operating from London Gatwick. In the future, the Tuesday St Kitts service will run on Wednesday, the Thursday Antigua-Tobago flight will be moved to Friday and the Punta Cana service will operate on Thursday instead of Wednesday.

French strike leads to flight cancellations

Passengers travelling from the UK are advised to check the status of their flight before leaving home as the French air control strike continues, forcing Ryanair, EasyJet and British Airways to cancel flights.

With 160 of today’s Ryanair flights to and from the UK being cancelled, the strike affected 15% of the airline’s schedule for 25 June 2014. The issues also caused inconvenience for EasyJet passengers travelling to and from France, as the airline had to cancel 20% of its flights in and out of the country scheduled for today. British Airways experienced less problems in comparison to the other two airlines, however, today the carrier still had to cancel a total of 14 short haul flights.

New summer 2015 services and winter 2014 frequency changes from BA

Passengers planning for summer 2015 will be pleased to know that they can now take advantage of upcoming British Airways services from London Gatwick to Bodrum, Cagliari, Dalaman, Heraklion and Rhodes. Due to launch from 26 April 2015, the new flights are already on sale.

Meanwhile, the airline has also announced additional changes to its winter 2014 services from London Heathrow, with the number of flights to Barcelona, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, Newcastle and Zurich set to increase and a reduction in frequencies to Paris Charles de Gaulle, Edinburgh and Tripoli. As part of the new winter schedule the number of domestic flights from London Heathrow to Manchester will also be reduced from 68 to 59 per week.

Ritz-Carlton to open hotel in Mumbai

Ritz-Carlton is to launch its second property in India, with the brand’s first hotel in Mumbai set to open its doors in 2017. Located in the city’s new business area called Worli district, the hotel will offer 238 to choose from.

The new property will also offer guests an opportunity to enjoy two restaurants, an ocean-view bar and a Ritz-Carlton Spa, as well as take advantage of banquet and meeting space ideal for weddings and high profile events.
